Chicago, CA

Let's watch how Chicago demonstrates how to push big business out--in their effort to pushish...

Chicago City Council OKs 'Living Wage'
CHICAGO — The City Council brushed aside warnings from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to approve an ordinance that makes Chicago the biggest city in the nation to require big-box retailers to pay a "living wage."
[...]
Wal-Mart spokesman John Bisio said earlier that if the measure passed, "We'd redirect our focus on our suburban strategy and see how we could better serve our city of Chicago residents from suburban Chicagoland."

You Can Trust Them -- Right!

From NewsBuster -- Interesting!

CNN's Robertson Now Admits: Hezbollah 'Had Control' of His Anti-Israel Piece
Better late than never? On CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday, CNN’s senior international correspondent Nic Robertson added all of the caveats and disclaimers that he should have included in his story last week that amounted to his giving an uncritical forum for the terrorist group Hezbollah to spout unverifiable anti-Israeli propaganda.
[...]
Challenged by Reliable Sources host (and Washington Post media writer) Howard Kurtz on Sunday, Robertson suggested Hezbollah has “very, very sophisticated and slick media operations,” that the terrorist group “had control of the situation. They designated the places that we went to, and we certainly didn't have time to go into the houses or lift up the rubble to see what was underneath,” and he even contradicted Hezbollah’s self-serving spin: “There's no doubt that the [Israeli] bombs there are hitting Hezbollah facilities.”

Update

After taking some time off I thought I would share some things I found interesting.

  • Something that you want here much of in the MSM (Main Stream Media), because it is not 'negative' enough toward the military.

Guardsman Cleared in Iraqi's Death
BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military has dismissed all charges against a Pennsylvania National Guardsman accused of killing an unarmed Iraq civilian near Ramadi, finding that the soldier had reason to believe the man had a weapon.

  • Jonah Goldberg pretty much pegs the UN for the failure it is!

The Great U.N. Delusion::By Jonah Goldberg
No, the failure comes in precisely the arena that supposedly justifies the U.N.'s existence: global peace and security. And that's where the delusion comes in. The folks at United Nations Plaza have proved themselves to be either well-intentioned incompetents or cagey, crapulent kleptocrats. The list of their biggest failures is spelled out in blood: Somalia, Rwanda, Yugoslavia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Congo (where peacekeepers reportedly raped the local girls), Iraq (where the U.N. bugged out after a bombing in 2003), Darfur and, in what was supposed to be the model for U.N. peacekeeping, East Timor, which, after seven years of exemplary U.N. stewardship, recently became the ideal location to film a reality-show version of "Mad Max."

  • Can't help but to think what might be in Mogadishu had Clinton not cut and run!

Somali Islamists declare holy war against Ethiopia - Yahoo! News
MOGADISHU (AFP) - Somalia's powerful Islamic council has vowed a "holy war" against neighbouring Ethiopia, which has moved troops into its lawless neighbouring state to protect its weak transitional government from a feared Islamist advance.

For Dad....

Tiger Woods successfully defends his British Open title. Looks like he isn't all washed up, which many said when he missed the cut at the last major, after all! Congratulations--enjoy it!

More Progress Ignored

The current 'media dogpile' of Israel it is easy for them to ignore news of progress in Iraq--note Iraqi forces, insurgent leader captured, and insurgent leader killed.

Iraqi Forces Capture Insurgent Leader, Kill Another
WASHINGTON, July 17, 2006 – Iraqi forces captured an insurgent cell leader in Baghdad July 13 and killed another insurgent leader in northern Iraq July 14, military officials reported. The Iraqi forces captured an insurgent cell leader, planner and organizer in a southern Baghdad mosque compound during a security operation July 13.

The Tide Turns

This is interesting...

In an About-Face, Sunnis Want U.S. to Remain in Iraq
July 16 — As sectarian violence soars, many Sunni Arab political and religious leaders once staunchly opposed to the American presence here are now saying they need American troops to protect them from the rampages of Shiite militias and Shiite-run government forces.
Not to worry the NYT still gets to take it's shots
The Sunni Arab leaders say they have no newfound love for the Americans. Many say they still sympathize with the insurgency and despise the Bush administration and the fact that the invasion has helped strengthen the power of neighboring Iran, which backs the ruling Shiite parties.
You know the old--we hate you but need you!

Sure--Give Them the Power!

We see that the suicides may have accomplished their goal and in the process made fools of the US Media and 'bleeding heart' liberals.  The suicides were meant to sway public opinion and many Americans one the left are to simple minded to see that and are falling right into the trap!  Common sense folks; use just a little common sense in your on extreme hatred of President Bush so you don't hurt the country anymore then you already have--please!

Gitmo suicide probe finds hints of plot
Authorities who searched other detainees' cells after the three were found hanged discovered instructions on tying knots, along with several notes in Arabic that were "relevant" to an investigation of a possible broader plot, officials said in court papers filed late Friday in Washington.

The detention center's commander, Navy Rear Adm. Harry B. Harris, said in an affidavit that investigators believe "the suicides may have been part of a larger plan or pact for more suicides that day or in the immediate future."

It Works...

Well until the ACLU gets involved and claims it is unlawful, but for now it is working!

Report: FBI Used Web to Break Up NYC Terror Plot

Shocker...

The court upholds the 'will of the people', what a surprise.

Same-sex marriages rebuffed in N.Y., Ga
WASHINGTON -- The highest courts of New York and Georgia ruled Thursday that same-sex couples are not entitled to marry...
[...]
Meanwhile, the Georgia Supreme Court upheld an amendment to that state's constitution, approved by three-fourths of Georgia voters, that prohibits gay partners from marrying or claiming benefits under a civil union.

DISGRACEFUL

The next 'poster boy' for the 'anti-war' crowd. Here we have a gentlemen that enters the military, as a volunteer, in 2003--at a time of war an now refused orders... What does this tell you about the man--this 'statement' was planned, he is a coward, he is selfish, or all of the above? Whatever you think or whether or not you agree with the war--he is a DISGRACE!

He 'volunteered' knowing full well what was waiting for him--trust me he would have had ample opportunity to 'bow out' before accepting his commission -- so what is this? A DISGRACE--he is disgracing those who have served with honor, those who have been killed, and those currently serving. I hope the ARMY punishes him with the full impact of the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice)--what better way for him to show he really 'stands up' for what he believes then to give up eight to twelve years of his life? None of the charges involved desertion, which can carry a harsher penalty, and describes is actions toward his 'brothers and sisters in arms'... A DISGRACE I tell you!
