My Hope!

Remember

I hope and pray every American, be he/she born or naturalized, remembers the greatest of this nation… the reason so many will sacrifice so much to get to America - CAME AT A PRICE!

Many selflessly sacrificed much to give you the right to celebrate America, to love America, and YES to hate America… Freedom to love or hate DOESN'T COME FREE

Switching to Apple, a Year Later

I have been using Apple products for just over a year now… November 2011, after nearly two decades of Windows/PC/Palm/Android use.

How has it been? Enjoyable!

So long before trying, why?

Well my first exposure to desktop computing was with a PC and windows and I took to it… I enjoyed it and excelled at teaching myself. If it wasn't working just the way I wanted it, I wiped the machine and build it back up - Sometimes up for more than 24-36 hours.

Second, as Apple started to reemerge as a player those that used them were arrogant… the same reason I did not like cats, I never have had cats only dogs; however, I dislike them - why? The owners, they allowed their animals to roam free as did the laws, and cat owners thought they were above dog owners:-) … so fair or not I didn't like cats. The same was true about Apple, the owners/users I met were jerks, almost rabid, so Apple products never got a chance with me.

In fact, in 2010 when I attempted to purchase an iPad for my niece from an Apple Store, "owners" in the store started in on me when they saw my Android phone "Why are you even here if you don't use Apple?"… I explained my niece was an Apple user but not me and got "well at least she is intelligent"; in fact, the Genius became a Jerkius so I left! I bought the iPad from Best Buy, where they didn't care what I used!

Why did I finally try Apple products?

Really, when you get down to it… from my want to have the newest device I could. I changed jobs and for the first time I was unable to provide my own phone and just be reimbursed for the expense… the choice they gave me were the brand new iPhone, a 6 or 8 month old Android device, or a years old Blackberry bold - I choose the iPhone.

Well having time between old and new jobs and having zero experience with iOS and since one of the reasons for changing jobs was more money - I decided to get an iPad to learn iOS after all I could sell my Android tablet or give it to my wife.

Was iOS "better" than Android?

Actually, I wouldn't say either OS was worse or better than the other - I would say the apps for iOS were much more refined! Also, I would say the apps worked better with iOS than many apps worked with Android, not as many quirks… Made sense, iOS was created by the same company/team that created the hardware so it would be expected the OS would get every ounce of performance from the hardware and since they also tightly controlled the app, well you get the point. So I saw less requirement to clear memory, to restart the device, etc.

HEY, one would think it would work that way with iMac etc… and since there was more money involved - Well!

I replaced my personal laptop with an iMac! Smooth, no restarts, "it worked"… I replaced my WiFi with airport extreme and after getting the company iPhone why not an Apple TV.

I recently bought a personal MacBook Pro - So am I happy a year later?

Yes, I am am - Not saying a PC or Android are bad… in fact, I loved them - I loved playing around with them, modifying them, and I learned a lot! I believe as I am older I don't feel like "playing around" or "modifying", instead I want the devices to work when I turn them on and not be quirking - I don't have the time, the patients, or the desire to play/learn… I just want to do what I need to do and get on with my life - so I am an Apple user, wonder if I appear to be an arrogant jerk to non Apple users now :-)

Tragedy - How Should We Help

First I want to say I feel for and will help anyway I can those affected by the flood; however, I must say I do get sick of our concentrating on the tragedy of natural acts as if they never happened before or they are an anomaly…

Though this post will be considered by many as “unsympathetic” or callous I would disagree and apply this description to every political leader or group who pounce on any natural tragedy as an opportunity to promote their agenda, gain more power, or both. I find it sad so many don’t see the media’s constant bombardment of “gloom and doom” as what it is – An effort to promote an agenda, to sway public opinion, to “tell you what you should think”!

This is the real “burr under my saddle” – Telling me what I should think! If you don’t accept their spoon feed crap you are tagged as “uncaring”. When in fact, I believe I and those like me are much more caring. Our goal in helping anyone is to help them in such a way that they feel they helped themselves, you know pride a sense of worth! Pride, that thing that I truly believe certain political groups prefer you not have because without a sense of worth there is no individualism and without individualism there is only “dependence”.

So I hope others will band together and help those affected to help themselves; however, as for me, the man sitting on the tailgate of his truck waiting for the government to swoop in and save him doesn’t need or want my help after all I already gave him his charity on April 15th…TAXES.

I want to help anyone in troubled by providing them a hammer and nails and teach them how to build, give them a fishing pole and teach ‘em how to fish, or help them get a job so a year from now they are still helping their family instead of waiting on our charity again…

Review FEAR as 2009 Departs and 2010 Arrives

Realizing 2010 was about to be here, I remember how I believed “I would be old” when thinking of 2000 while in school. That led me to remember the Y2K [bogus] bug. Remembering the Y2K, I remembered the Ozone hole, which caused me to remember the “new” ice age…

Then I remembered how Japan was “going to own America”, much like we hear China “will own America” now.
Does anyone else see a common theme here? “Keep the citizens in fear”, seems to be the goal of the media, the government, or both.

Having some (a little) experience with trying to control “masses”, I can say installing fear and worries is a goal to “control”. Do you believe I am just “blowing smoke”?

Well let’s look back – post WWII
  • Fear of the ‘A’ bomb – Bomb shelters, “duck and cover”, etc.
  • McCarthyism
  • Cold War
  • Temperatures cooling and entering a new ice age
  • Oil Shortage
  • Japan would “buy and destroy” America
  • Going to “cook” due to a hole in the Ozone
  • AIDS
  • Animal Fat
  • Domestic Terrorism
  • Global Warming
  • International Terrorism
  • Trans fats
  • China will “buy and destroy” America

Hmm, that is just a few – Am I blowing smoke?

Wasn't this Suppose to Stop?

Interesting read, but I thought everyone was going to instantly love the US once Obama was elected - I suppose this to is Bushes fault. Although, after September 2001, while in office over two months less time, Bush took charge and dealt with it without blaming the previous administration.... Will Obama? Be on the look out for some "organized" meeting.

Attempted bombing spotlights al Qaeda growth in Yemen
Civil war and lawlessness have turned the Arab world's poorest state into an attractive alternative base for al Qaeda, which U.S. officials say has been largely pushed out of Afghanistan and is under growing military pressure from the Pakistani army in bordering tribal areas.

Over?

Correct me, but I thought the Obama administration declared the "war on terror" over - In fact, we aren't even supposed to call it "war on terror" anymore... From this article, I don't think so!

Dang, I guess I made the Whitehouse's list yet again :0

...but wasn't all this hate for the west going to automatically stop because the "hope and change" guy won - How is that "hope and change" working of you?

AFP: Number of militant recruits on the rise: report
WASHINGTON — A rising number of Western recruits, including Americans, are traveling to Afghanistan and Pakistan to attend paramilitary training camps for militant Islamists, The Washington Post reported late.

Good News - NOT

The below is "great news"...we have so much to look forward to! For example, more taxes for "the greater good", go carts with electric mower engines, BS about renewable energies while you are still burning fossil fuels just not "oil"...and nobody will tell you how much these "batteries" will cost to buy, to dispose of, or the cost associated with gearing our emergency personnel up to deal with these "batteries"!

NO, it ain't good news - But hey I am a "global warming denier" and proud of it!

Some Hint at Progress on Climate Deal - NYTimes.com

Couldn't have Said it Better

Many that know me have heard me harp about being sick and tired of hearing "the worst economy since the 'great depression'" - Knowing that many younger than 50 just weren't taught history before 1960 and those in their 30's nothing before Clinton. All seem to have forgotten the 70's, unemployment, inflation, and the initiation of a misery index (note Mr. Obama inherited a lower index than his predecessor while his climbed in the few months of office Bush's was lower after eight years, if anyone cares.).

Well I found someone other than I that remembers the 70's...all be it an evil "conservative" - Go figure.

Tell me if I have seen this before: Swine flu, Russian subs off the American coast, indecision toward Afghanistan, hot summers followed by cold winters. And then there is high unemployment and soon-to-be high inflation. Am I imagining things or is this a return to the 1970's?

I remember the ‘70's very well, especially the winter of '78. The heater broke in the middle of the coldest winter on St. Louis record and it was a miserable time. What struck me most was scientists trying to blame the frigid temperatures on global cooling. Make up your minds, will you

Beta Male, We Need an Alpha!

Excellent opinion piece from The American Thinker
American Thinker: Did We Elect a Beta Male As President?
With his "we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist" opening to the world's dictators, the President is exhibiting classic beta male behavior, in essence rolling over on his back and exposing his throat to them to make sure they know he has no intention of challenging their

Mr. President - You Won, now be Presidential

Good piece...

Richard Cohen - Time for Obama to Act Like a President
Sooner or later it is going to occur to Barack Obama that he is the president of the United States. As of yet, though, he does not act that way, appearing promiscuously on television and granting interviews like the presidential candidate he no longer is.

Something to Think About - Government

Good quick read of for the AM - May give you something to think about.

Ten Questions about Freedom, Virtue, and the Role of Government
Today's political debates are often muddied by misconceptions of the role of government and its responsibility to American citizens. What are the limits of good government? How can the virtues necessary for freedom flourish? Sustaining ordered liberty depends on good answers to these questions.

Well let's see - The sultans of smart in our education system already want to teach America's children God couldn't have created the planet, every good child should be totally dependent on the government, there is not failure therefore no success, and now further brainwashing that they can someone how "save the planet" by what choosing paper instead of plastic... Really GIVE ME A BREAK!

Environmental Lesson Plans Drawing Praise, Concern
Could environmental education be crossing into environmental indoctrination? Some critics say yes, as schools boast that such curricula simply is teaching children ways of caring for the earth.

Being a "good" student at Western Avenue Elementary School in Flossmoor, Ill., means more than just doing reading, writing and arithmetic well. It also means trying to save the planet.

I do not advocate nor participate in total abandonment and do think we should be good stewards of what GOD have given us; however, it is the arrogance of man to believe that simply their action can and will destroy this planet before the time and place of GOD's choosing... So if we cannot destory before God so chooses, how can we, you, save it????

One more question - A few days last summer we had record highs giving way to "global warming" rhetoric; however, we broke recodes from 1891 and 1902...what was killing the planet then, did they predict the end in 50 years, and what change????? Want to MAYBE convenience me accurately predict the weather tomorrow and we will talk!!!

...and another story about how to hold our children accountable...
SEATTLE - Washington state law does not bar teachers from having consensual sex with 18-year-old students, an appeals court ruled Tuesday in dismissing a case against a former high school choir teacher.

The teacher, Matthew Hirschfelder, was charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor for allegedly having sex with a Hoquiam High School senior in 2006. He challenged a judge's refusal to dismiss his case, arguing the student wasn't a minor because she was 18.

Here is a novel idea - The AP reports that parents and teaching children to be responsible for their actions is needed for their online protection.
"should not overly rely upon any single technology or group of technologies as the primary solution," the task force said.

"Parents, teachers, mentors, social services, law enforcement and minors themselves

Scaring thing is it took a year long study and no telling how much money to tell us something we all should already know!

Not good news for a state that tells us abstinence works...
Mississippi Highest Teen Pregnancy
Don't misunderstand - I am for abstinence, I just think it is moot without teaching God, family, morals, and ethics along with"abstinence".

Taking a "get away", we have traveled to the Nation's Capital.

I have enjoyed all the "free" visits to our national monuments and museums.

Let me say we have a great country - I have renewed interest in our people and our international visitors. In pouring down rain and few umbrellas the museums and monuments were packed...with "smiling" people.

Well having had to fly for years and being able to stop - I haven't had to fly for sometime and the trips I have taken since limiting my business travel have been on international carriers.
Well today I am taking a vacation and wanted to describe my experiences.
The check points are pretty much as they have been for some time and it really doesn't matter if you are traveling internationally or domestically.
Sitting on my flight, currently in flight, I see what I despise about US owned airlines - They have us hostage to their rudeness. They don't even have a need to pretend to treat us as paying customers.
I understand the business need to generate revenue by charging for everything but the air you breath (not yet anyway) - Don't agree but understand. I don't understand the "we take your money to tell you what to do" attitude.
I am serious there are a lot of little king and queens working for airlines...they appear to hate their jobs and us the customer...
Basically we are hostages, maybe Stockholm syndrome will kick in soon and I will change my attitude toward my captors - But' I doubt it.

This is scary - Socialism on the march -
AP writers Harry Dunphy and Tom Raum report:
U.S. lawmakers urged quick action by the Bush administration on measures to make direct purchases of bank stock to help unlock lending.

This is America isn't it with government molded by the people and for the people, but one that has demonstrated over and over they suck at business - Heck can they balance a check book yet?

And the sale out continues - Exactly what does race have to do with one's dangerous history? The person that Palin was referring to did blow things up I/we don't care what the color of his skin was; however, I guess the AP does!

Analysis: Palin's words may backfire on McCain
By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is "palling around with terrorists" and doesn't see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign.

And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret.

Here we see the "get out of jail free card" - You can hang out with, take talking points and guidance from anyone as long as you "denounce" them later. That is if you are a liberal democrat that is loved by the AP!
Obama, who was a child when the Weathermen were planting bombs, has denounced Ayers' radical views and actions.
