Review FEAR as 2009 Departs and 2010 Arrives

Realizing 2010 was about to be here, I remember how I believed “I would be old” when thinking of 2000 while in school. That led me to remember the Y2K [bogus] bug. Remembering the Y2K, I remembered the Ozone hole, which caused me to remember the “new” ice age…

Then I remembered how Japan was “going to own America”, much like we hear China “will own America” now.
Does anyone else see a common theme here? “Keep the citizens in fear”, seems to be the goal of the media, the government, or both.

Having some (a little) experience with trying to control “masses”, I can say installing fear and worries is a goal to “control”. Do you believe I am just “blowing smoke”?

Well let’s look back – post WWII
  • Fear of the ‘A’ bomb – Bomb shelters, “duck and cover”, etc.
  • McCarthyism
  • Cold War
  • Temperatures cooling and entering a new ice age
  • Oil Shortage
  • Japan would “buy and destroy” America
  • Going to “cook” due to a hole in the Ozone
  • AIDS
  • Animal Fat
  • Domestic Terrorism
  • Global Warming
  • International Terrorism
  • Trans fats
  • China will “buy and destroy” America

Hmm, that is just a few – Am I blowing smoke?

Wasn't this Suppose to Stop?

Interesting read, but I thought everyone was going to instantly love the US once Obama was elected - I suppose this to is Bushes fault. Although, after September 2001, while in office over two months less time, Bush took charge and dealt with it without blaming the previous administration.... Will Obama? Be on the look out for some "organized" meeting.

Civil war and lawlessness have turned the Arab world's poorest state into an attractive alternative base for al Qaeda, which U.S. officials say has been largely pushed out of Afghanistan and is under growing military pressure from the Pakistani army in bordering tribal areas.

Merry Christmas (Remember)

May everyone's Christmas be as good as a puppy's loves and as happy a child opening the exact present they wanted. Our prayer is that everyone remembers the "reason for the season", the greatest gift ever given (a Father's Son), and where the custom of giving and receiving at Christmas was started.

God gave us his Son knowing that our sin and us would kill him, he did this out of love.

The Son came to this world knowing that our sin and us would kill him, he did this out of love.

Upon the arrival of God's Son, gifts were brought to him out of honor and love for who He was and why He was here.

When we give and accept gifts let us remember this - Know that you are loved, because He came to this world to give His life for everyone and that includes YOU!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Like in previous years I wanted to post the Thanksgiving proclamation.

WHEREAS, It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor;

WHEREAS, Both the houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted' for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have show kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Sitting at Work - WHY?

I am sitting at work, filling in for a supervisor who is off, and wondering why I am here...

We had to travel 452 miles round trip to attend a training session, which I did without complaint - Because it is my JOB.

Now I am here for a "midnight shift", because it is my JOB.

My job - I was raised to take MY JOB serious and a responsibility not taken lightly. "Work at it and you WILL succeed."

However, my future looks bleak - It appears the goal of my country is to take more and more of what I earn at MY JOB and give it to those who don't WORK, and a growing majority of those choose not to... Why does my government want this?

Because I am a male, a white male, because I chose to work, or simply to get votes and stay in power.

I believe it is because they want to stay in power caring not that they are creating a country full of pride-less, lazy, and selfish citizens... The irony here is THOSE IN GOVERNMENT will have me and you believe that I am selfish for working, taking MY JOB serious, and wanting the keep more of what I reap then they steal from me to give to those who choose not to WORK.

Well I have to get back to MY JOB because it is MY JOB, but I leave you with a question, WHY?

State Department Strategy Review Flawed from Start

If the discussions at the kick-off event are an indicator, the final QDDR product will repeat past mistakes by maintaining a focus on the traditional official government instruments of foreign aid and will fail to achieve the true integration of all the tools of U.S. foreign and security policy.

Flip-Flop is Back

Besides the comments not sounding anything like the Kerry of campaign season - Doesn't the below sound like another "I voted for it before I voted against it"?

Kerry: Targeted attacks in Afghanistan not enough - washingtonpost.com
"I do not believe that a counterterrorism strategy all by itself without a sufficient level of counterinsurgency will work," said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass. "If you don't have a presence on the ground that's effective, it's almost impossible to collect the kind of intelligence that you need to be equally effective in your counterterrorism."
[...]
Kerry is not promoting sending more troops now. That would be irresponsible, he said, when Afghanistan's election is not yet finished.

"I don't see how President Obama can make a decision about the committing of our additional forces or even the further fulfillment of our mission that's here today without an adequate government in place or knowledge about what that government's going to be," he said.

Despite spat, White House to book officials on Fox News - washingtonpost.com

I will not mention how utterly stupid and politically ignorant these arrogant ____es are being - But I do hope they continue!

Over?

Correct me, but I thought the Obama administration declared the "war on terror" over - In fact, we aren't even supposed to call it "war on terror" anymore... From this article, I don't think so!

Dang, I guess I made the Whitehouse's list yet again :0

...but wasn't all this hate for the west going to automatically stop because the "hope and change" guy won - How is that "hope and change" working of you?

Couldn't have Said it Better

Many that know me have heard me harp about being sick and tired of hearing "the worst economy since the 'great depression'" - Knowing that many younger than 50 just weren't taught history before 1960 and those in their 30's nothing before Clinton. All seem to have forgotten the 70's, unemployment, inflation, and the initiation of a misery index (note Mr. Obama inherited a lower index than his predecessor while his climbed in the few months of office Bush's was lower after eight years, if anyone cares.).

Well I found someone other than I that remembers the 70's...all be it an evil "conservative" - Go figure.

Tell me if I have seen this before: Swine flu, Russian subs off the American coast, indecision toward Afghanistan, hot summers followed by cold winters. And then there is high unemployment and soon-to-be high inflation. Am I imagining things or is this a return to the 1970's?

I remember the ‘70's very well, especially the winter of '78. The heater broke in the middle of the coldest winter on St. Louis record and it was a miserable time. What struck me most was scientists trying to blame the frigid temperatures on global cooling. Make up your minds, will you

and More on the Afganistan Issue

We will see...What do you think?
Advisers to Obama Are Split on Afghan Troop Request - NYTimes.com
WASHINGTON — As President Obama weighs sending more troops to Afghanistan, one of the most consequential decisions of his presidency, he has discovered that the military is not monolithic in support of the plan and that some of the civilian advisers he respects most have deep reservations.

...and On National Security

What to you think "dear" leader will do? Stand up to the fringe left and send troops or give in and allow it to be "all for not"?

AFP: General backs request for more troops in Afghanistan
LONDON — Britain's top general in Afghanistan has backed his US commander's call for more foreign troops to fight an increasingly bloody Taliban insurgency, a newspaper said Monday.

Lieutenant-General Jim Dutton, the deputy commander of NATO?s International Security Assistance Force, told The Times newspaper that victory was a matter of "straightforward force ratios".

"If you want to achieve long-term stability, and therefore a lack of terrorism potential in an area, you need to be doing more than simply patrolling the skies," Dutton said.

He said he supported US General Stanley McChrystal's request for a troop buildup in the country to counter the Taliban insurgency -- as competing advice over the future war strategy and waning Western public support grows.

Forgetting Defense ...

Forgetting defense or like other democrats kicking it to the side claiming the fight the "war on poverty" one that hasn't been made any advancements in 50 years - Guess now it is the "healthcare war".

...one question, if the "healthcare plan" will pay for it's self, as our president claimed, why the need to cut the military budget????

How to Dismantle a Military Superpower
Ultimately, severe modernization cuts could increase the likelihood that U.S. military capabilities will fall short of the nation's wide-ranging security commitments. Current budget plans indicate the United States may relinquish its military superpower status - not to another nation per se, but by reverting to a position where it lacks the capacity to engage and maintain a forward presence globally.

Obama Weighing Health Care Strategy Shift - Political News - FOXNews.com
President Barack Obama, faced with falling approval ratings and increasingly impatient with Senate negotiations over health care, is weighing a shift in strategy that would offer more details of his goals for overhauling the nation's health care system.

The president is considering a speech in the next week or so in which he would be "more prescriptive" about what he feels Congress must include in a bill, top adviser David Axelrod said Tuesday in an interview. The speech might occur before the Sept. 15 deadline the White House gave to Senate negotiators to seek a bipartisan bill, Axelrod said. He suggested that two key Republicans have not bargained in good faith.

Facts - If you are Interested

This article checks several Whitehouse claims - I have just put one below, so if interested follow the link...

Fact Check
The first claim is that “Medicare has controlled cost growth better than private-sector health plans.” The reality is that “when payments from all sources are considered, spending on Medicare beneficiaries is increasing faster than spending on the privately insured.” The amount Medicare spends per beneficiary is growing slowly, but Medicare is paying a shrinking share of its beneficiaries’ total health costs. The total amount spent on health care for individuals enrolled in Medicare is actually growing faster than the amount spent on individuals in private insurance.

Medal of Honor???

I am going to have to do some more thinking on the story below - The Medal of Honor, the highest award a military member can receive, is a great honor! I cannot put into words what it "stands for" to an active or past member of our military. Some reasons for the high level of respect is because it is not given easily, or lightly, and politics has relatively been left out of the awards process...

If we just look at WWII, 464 medals were given - a quick look puts the military deaths for WWII around 416,800 (this is higher or lower depending on source)...meaning the Medal(s) of Honor awarded were just over 1% of the miltiary deaths.

We see there have been 4,000 death and 6 medals awarded...just over 1% - The numbers tell me they need not, should not, change a thing. Whatever is done or not done the honor can/must not be diminished, neither for future recipients or past...and if politics becomes the primary factor I fear this is inevitable. If I had to give an opinion today I would say - LET the process ALONE and RESPECT the traditions of the past!

Some Say Pentagon Not Awarding Enough Medals of Honor for Iraq
Eight years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq. About 4,000 members of the U.S. military killed in action. More than 34,000 wounded. Just six considered worthy of America's highest military award for battlefield valor.

For some veterans and members of Congress, that last number doesn't add up.

They question how so few Medals of Honor -- all awarded posthumously -- could be bestowed for wars of such magnitude and duration

“I personally encourage the president to establish a White House commission on public media,” the legendary newsman said.

Such a commission on media reform, Rather said, ought to make recommendations on saving journalism jobs and creating new business models to keep news organizations alive.

Here is a plan Dan - "The Media" runs the media like a business and gives their consumers what they want, stop treating their readers like idiots, and stop force feeding YOUR OPINIONS - simply REPORT the NEWS... Oh hey, Dan the really important part, report the news HONESTLY, as hard as that may be!

But on second thought, they government stepping in (or Obama steeping) to run the media does remove all pretense of "honest reporting" - After all, the MSM has sold out to liberals, democrats, and Obama lock stock and barrel!

From "The Foundry" on Health Care

Some some interesting info...

Obama Moves the Goal Posts on Health Care » The Foundry
The President attempts to construct an argument that the insurance companies are forcing you or me to pay more out-of-pocket, so we need reform to save us. Nonsense.

Unity - Right!

The "unifier" plays the race card...hum, guess this a new strategy for unification. Appears to be the old strategy of "divide and conquer", but maybe that is just me.

Obama: Cambridge police acted 'stupidly'
"Separate and apart from this incident is that there’s a long history in this country of African-American and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately," the president said

Promises, promises, promise....LIE

How can a man, our president, make promises about something he knows nothing about - Worse, how can the main stream media not call him on it. Folks, the media ain't there for the public and hasn't been for quite some time!

Obama Admits He’s “Not Familiar” With House Bill
President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)

This is a truly disturbing admission by the President, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.”

Brilliant...simply Brilliant - NOT!

The below comment just oozes brilliance doesn't it - Spend more, "more than you have obviously" to keep from going broke...and we wonder why Americans live on credit and beyond their means.Joe Biden: ‘We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt’

“Now, people when I say that look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about, Joe? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, that's what I’m telling you.”

...by the way, I am believe I am going to share this quote with my management team today and ask for a raise. "Give me a raise, because if we don't spend more money we will go bankrupt and I want to do everything I can for the company!"

The Promises are Falling Apart?

Can the Obama loving and protecting media actually being turning against their beloved leader?

AP News: PROMISES, PROMISES: Obama tax pledge unrealistic

have already increased tobacco taxes - which disproportionately hit the poor[...]"Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes," Obama told a crowd in Dover, N.H., last year. But less than a month after taking office, Obama signed an expansion of child health care financed by 62-cent tax increase on each pack of cigarettes.[...]While not directly increasing taxes, a House-passed version of Obama's plan to reduce greenhouse gases blamed for causing global warming would similarly increase American families' home energy bills by $175 a year on average, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

...wasn't this suppose to stop with his election?

I thought the "hatred" of America was supposed to stop, with the "we can get along with everyone" president and an appeasement foreign policy - Guess the North Koreans didn't get that memo.

Healthcare?

Interesting read about health care...get one to thinking.

A Doctor’s View of Obama’s Healthcare Plans - WSJ.com
.” In fact, a thoughtful lay friend recently said to me in the context of her medical care, “Face it, Abraham, medicine is corrupt.” She stated this casually, as if it were an obvious and well-known fact, not waiting to see if I would agree. At the time I remember that I sputtered. I wanted to protest but the sounds would not come out. That word “corrupt” gnawed at me for days.

Wasn't the whole world supposed to be butter in his hands? It appears N Korea didn't get that memo and are still playing the same game...how will our new President respond?
SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea accused President Barack Obama's government of meddling in its internal affairs Wednesday and vowed to take "every necessary measure" to defend itself against what it calls U.S. threats.

The statement by North Korea's Foreign Ministry, however, was far less harsh than rhetoric issued by the country's military during the run-up to joint U.S.-South Korean war games that started across the South on Monday. The North's military has threatened South Korean passenger planes and put its troops on standby.

This has some interesting information about the "myth" that is global warming...
"In the early days of the IPCC, I was visiting the head of the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy -- the director, Dr. Robert Watson, who later became the first Chairman of the IPCC. He informed me and a work associate with me that since we had started to regulate Ozone depleting substances under the 1987 Montreal Protocol, the next goal, in his mind, was to regulate Carbon Dioxide emissions from fossil fuel burning. This was nearly twenty years ago. There was no mention of a scientific basis for that goal. So, as you can see from the beginning of the IPCC process, it has been guided by desired policy outcomes, not science."

Well let's see - The sultans of smart in our education system already want to teach America's children God couldn't have created the planet, every good child should be totally dependent on the government, there is not failure therefore no success, and now further brainwashing that they can someone how "save the planet" by what choosing paper instead of plastic... Really GIVE ME A BREAK!

Environmental Lesson Plans Drawing Praise, Concern
Could environmental education be crossing into environmental indoctrination? Some critics say yes, as schools boast that such curricula simply is teaching children ways of caring for the earth.

Being a "good" student at Western Avenue Elementary School in Flossmoor, Ill., means more than just doing reading, writing and arithmetic well. It also means trying to save the planet.

I do not advocate nor participate in total abandonment and do think we should be good stewards of what GOD have given us; however, it is the arrogance of man to believe that simply their action can and will destroy this planet before the time and place of GOD's choosing... So if we cannot destory before God so chooses, how can we, you, save it????

One more question - A few days last summer we had record highs giving way to "global warming" rhetoric; however, we broke recodes from 1891 and 1902...what was killing the planet then, did they predict the end in 50 years, and what change????? Want to MAYBE convenience me accurately predict the weather tomorrow and we will talk!!!

Q4 GDP down 3.8 percent, biggest drop since 1982
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The economy shrank at its fastest pace in nearly 27 years in the fourth quarter, government data showed, sinking deeper into recession as consumers and business cut spending.
So what is it? In all the "scare tactics", it appears the media and our President can't get the facts straight - Or maybe the facts are in the way... But what is is, worst economy since the depression, worst economy since 1982, or since "all" of 2008 had more growth than 2001 (2001 total growth = .08% and 2008 total growth = 1.3%) - Is it only the worst economy in since 2001? Don't worry the media want let the flats cloud their agenda!!!

...and it begins!

PELOSI SAYS BIRTH CONTROL WILL HELP ECONOMY
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."

Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury.

How much further a move would it be to say "abortion (selective) is needed to assist in managing the economy - Yep, I can see nothing but good things, in the recent move to make our "free" economy state ran, NOT!
