Don't Give Credit to Who Deserves It.

Let's review what we heard last year -- 'the pipeline is un-securable' or 'the military can never secure the pipeline'... Hmm, what do you think about this news?

Iraqi oil is gushing
BEIJI, Iraq -- For more than two years the attacks came like clockwork. As soon as the military secured and workers repaired the pipelines from Iraq's northern oil fields, just when the valves were about to open, insurgents would strike. But roughly three weeks ago they suddenly stopped, letting crude oil flow freely from Iraq's vast reserves near Kirkuk.
Now never fear the media doesn't let us down... They don't and won't credit anything the military is doing!
Perhaps insurgents feared reprisals in Salahuddin province, where pipelines from Kirkuk flow to the country's largest refinery in Beiji. Maybe terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's death disrupted a chain of command that ordered the attacks, military officials said.

Whatever the cause,...
"Whatever the cause" -- LET ME GIVE YOU A HINT -- "Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, what a great place....."

Not Listen to Polls

Well this is good!  I still say worrying about polls during the 2004 election cycle delayed action on Fallujah resulting in added casualties--so I hope this is a truthful statement heading into the 2006 election cycle!

Snow: Polls won't influence Iraq strategy
"The president understands how a war can wear on a nation," White House press secretary Tony Snow said. "Whatever the bleakness is, whatever the facts are on the ground, you figure out how to win. You can't do that by reading polls."

"Most people realize simply pulling out would be an absolute unmitigated disaster," Snow said.

What a Surprise

Though you and I may not agree with the writers arguments leading up to the action in Iraq--to my surprise the USA Today, actually published an opinion that is dead on accurate...  For  sometime now many, including me, have been saying setting a 'timetable' for withdrawal is a bad idea--glad to see the USA Today maybe waking up to reality!

USATODAY.com - Setting deadline for troops' withdrawal will backfire
U.S. troops should not stay in Iraq, as in Vietnam, purely for pride in a hopeless battle. They should remain, however, as long as there is a reasonable chance that they can bring some stability, reinforce the fledgling democratic government and prevent Iraq from becoming a haven for terrorists. Announcing a timetable for withdrawal, as Sen. John Kerry proposes (Kerry's resolution in the Senate was rejected 93-6 on Thursday), would just invite the insurgents to wait out the American presence.

Best Buy in data recovery scandal
BEST BUY, which promises to destroy hard-drives when punters trade them in, has been accused of selling them on, complete with personal data.
Henry and Roma Gerbus, who traded in their hard-drive at the Best Buy branch in Springfield Township, were told that the old hard drive would be destroyed.
Gerbus said that staff at the store said that the hard-drive would have holes drilled into it so that it became useless. However, a month ago, Gerbus got a call from a bloke in Chicago who said he had just bought a hard drive for $25 in a flea market.
The drive had the couple's personal information, including Social Security numbers, bank statements and investment records.
