They Need a Break!

Let's see - since taking power the Democrats have accomplished what? Not one thing they "promised" or "claimed the American people wanted"; however, it seems they are getting more time off! Wasn't President Bush's "alleged" time off a big deal in the 2004 election? On never mind, just another double standard - A standard where democrats are concerned!

Democrats Plan a Shorter Workweek - New York Times
WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 — Shortly after winning a majority last year, Democrats triumphantly declared that they would put Congress back to work, promising an “end to the two-day workweek.” And indeed, the House has clocked more time in Washington this year than in any other session since 1995, when Republicans, newly in control, sought to make a similar point.

But 10 months into the session, with their legislative agenda often in gridlock with the Bush administration and a big election year looming, the Democrats are now planning a lighter schedule when the 110th Congress begins its second year in mid-January.

The House majority leader, Representative Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, told fellow Democrats this week that the House would not be in session next year on Fridays, except in June for work on appropriations bills.

Good News from Iraq?

Well you cannot be picky when it comes to "good news" about Iraq being reported by MSM. Read this article for yourself - There is "good news"; however, the writers do find some quotes to support the usual pessimistic opinion.

Al-Qaeda In Iraq Reported Crippled
The U.S. military believes it has dealt devastating and perhaps irreversible blows to al-Qaeda in Iraq in recent months, leading some generals to advocate a declaration of victory over the group, which the Bush administration has long described as the most lethal U.S. adversary in Iraq.
[...]
"AQI is definitely taking some hits," the official said. "There is definite progress, and that is undeniable good news. But what we don't know is how long it will last . . . and whether it's sustainable. . . . They have withstood withering pressure for a long period of time." Three months, he said, is not long enough to consider a trend sustainable.

Not so Outrageous Afterall

Would you classify this as a defeat? Democrats approving that which they condemned when it was politically advantageous to... Of course, the politically blind will not..."blind leading the blind!"

Democrats Seem Ready to Extend Wiretap Powers
Two months after insisting that they would roll back broad eavesdropping powers won by the Bush administration, Democrats in Congress appear ready to make concessions that could extend some crucial powers given to the National Security Agency

"Hello Pot I The Kettle"

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday denounced Vice President Dick Cheney as a "disaster"
Story
A "disaster" accusing another of being...he is delusional. Agree or disagree with Cheney you have to admit it is comical to here Jimmy Carter making this accusation - Heck it probably elevates Cheney to many!

Halo 3

Yes, I got it the first day, and in my humble opinion it was worth the"hype". So far, I believe it better then Halo 2; however, I have not decided if it is as good as Halo 1... Sure the graphics are better and...but, will it mean as much to the "video game" industry and "elderly" players like myself - Is 3 as "ground breaking" as the 1? I haven't decided, but I am enjoying it - Regression at it's funnest!

Couric says Surge Working or Did She?

From Iraq Katie Couric has some interesting things to say -
He took me to Fallujah, which really he believes is a crowning achievement for U.S. forces in Iraq and a role model if you will...
[...]
...and now Fallujah is relatively calm, reconstruction efforts are under way, and as I said, it is really being considered a crowning achievement.
[...]
Well I was surprised, you know, after I went to Eastern Baghad. I was taken to the Allawi market which is near Haifa street which was the scene of that very bloody gun battle back in January and you know this market seemed to be thriving and there were a lot of people out and about. A lot of family owned businesses and vegetable stalls and so you do see signs of life that seem to be normal.

Then there is the "appology" for anything she says that might seem positive!
Of course that’s what the U.S. military wants me to see so you have to keep that in mind as well.

Guess I Have to Comment

My opinion, well good riddance! The stupidity is just, well stupid.

Craig quits over sex scandal
BOISE, Idaho (Reuters) - Republican Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho, caught in a sex scandal that quickly lost him the support of his party after his arrest in a men's toilet, said on Saturday he would resign from the U.S. Senate.

But - Let's look at the others that need to go, that need to be "thrown under the bus"!

College Football Starts

Well for me the college football season started last night and to my dismay "the Vols" lost their first one; however, California didn't look like the team that came to Knoxville last year. Tennessee gave up fourteen points on "non-offensive" plays, which happened to be exactly what they lost by...

I cannot blame those fourteen points on their loss, but I can say, the Vol defense has me worried about out the season. Well let's hope for the best.

Was it or Wasn't it?

Was it a success or wasn't it? That is the question, and much like the subject "Global Warming" no one seems to agree.

We have this head line - "Two Billion", sounds like a success doesn't it?

Two billion watch Live Earth concerts

Then there is the "Live Earth fails...", sounds like it wasn't as success doesn't it?

Live Earth fails to pack large-scale punch

But then we get to the main reason for the even and for Gore's participation...

Al Gore slams global warming doubters at Live Earth
"Some who don't understand what is now at stake tried to stop this event on the Mall," the former Democratic presidential candidate said in a thinly veiled hit on members of President George W. Bush's Republican party.

"But here we are," he said as an image of a bright Earth shined behind him. "And it wasn't the cavalry who came to our rescue, it was the American Indian."

A few hundred spectators turned out for the concert, which began at 10:30 am

It was a political statement, that is it, I am unimpressed with Gore's quest for a legacy and/or a possible why back to the political arena. By the way let's not overlook the fact that the Washington sight managed to gather a "few" hundred - whoopee!

As for me - I am a what is affectionately called a Global Warming "denier"; however, I choose to spend my time watching the "carbon rich" Pepsi 400 which I am sure was much more exciting - Resulting in a "photo finish"!

Actual Spying on Americans OK!

I guess actually spying on Americans, unlike the "domestic spying" accusation, is OK. Well maybe it just because it is in association with a Clinton - So it's OK!

Clinton Pollster Sued Over E-Mails
Hillary Rodham Clinton's chief strategist is being accused of illegal eavesdropping in a civil lawsuit that alleges he and his polling firm monitored the personal e-mails of a former associate who started a rival company.

I thought the problem was supposed to be the poor, misguided, and unfairly treated that were upset with the west - No, the hate was based on their religion only. We were to believe we only need to be kinder and "fairer" and all the terror will go away... Puff, there goes another idea of the left - If their listening.

Do we Trust Polls?

Speaking as an American born citizen who is married to an American citizen who gained her citizenship through proper immigration - Not by amnesty nor a blanket granting, but by hard work and devotion to her "new" country - I feel I can speak to this... What polls? How was the question presented? Did the pollster ask - Are you for making illegal immigrant, those mostly of one ethnicity, citizens over night or pardoning these illegal immigrants immediately even if they do not want to be citizens?

Did they ask that question and do you really believe that most Americans would say yes? If you do, I have a nice piece of land in the swaps of Louisiana for sale or a grand deal on part of the Brooklyn bridge!

The President, one who I voted for and would still vote for given my 2004 choices, says we need to read the bill - Well I am not sure he did... Have you? By the way, I ain't the President on this one!

Amnesty? What amnesty? Critics substitute fear for facts - Yahoo! News

Although polls show that most Americans support giving illegal immigrants a path to citizenship,

Memorial Day 2007

The wife and I visited the newest memorial in our area - a Korean War memorial... My wife took a nice floral arrangement. God bless them and their families and may we never forget.

Happy Memorial Day

Have a great Memorial Day, but remember!

...and may we never FORGET!

This is Really a Shame

It is a shame that a country founded has gotten to this level of ignorance regarding God... Of course, it doesn't same much that the media and academia believe religion, Christian, and God are all the same - They are not!

Blind Faith
Americans are also the most religiously ignorant people in the Western world. Fewer than half of us can identify Genesis as the first book of the Bible, and only one third know that Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount.

Is this Criticism or Praise

I am not sure if being called the 'worst" by the true "worst" is bad or good - I think maybe good.

Carter said what he really meant was that Bush's foreign policy is "much worse" than Nixon's.

Thompson in '08

Christian conservatives pledge support for '08 Thompson bid

I keep seeing articles like this - Mr. Thompson should, might, is going to....etc. He is probably the most favored and celebrated "possible" Republican candidate - But, will he or is he going to live up to the hype? I really have not given it much thought - I feel it is kind of like comparing the '70 Steelers to the 90' Cowboys, all speculation until he actually enters the race.

If he does will he be the one? Is he all he is said to be? Or, will he fail to live up the billing and ultimately hurt the "true" Republican conservatives and the whole Republican party as a whole?

What - Someone forgot the Memo!

Mother of fallen Marine copes with the haunting 'what ifs'

This article from a local paper talks of an "educated" caucasian who's family was lives in a "prominent" upper middle-class neighborhood. It talks of a "choice" during wartime... The story indicates that monies were available to send him to expensive schools. My point, it goes against the only poor kids with no choice are joining the military lie that the MSM spreads regularly, and my guess is the writer is in for some trouble - She didn't even get the parents to badmouth the President.

All kidding asside - I feel for this mother, especially on Mother's Day; However, I would like to say that she should have not but pride for son and I honor him in my thought and prayers... This country is indebted to you and your family!

I guess it is official - I am old... I have officially been told I must have reading glasses, actually bifocals was the word; however, I avoided those for now by having corrective contacts for distance and readers for reading and computer! Age, you just cannot stop it.

I am Glad They Lost

I have to say - the longer this "new" congress goes on the more I am convinced the loss of the house and senate may have been a good thing. Republicans may even loose in 2008, again a good thing, if conservatives learn about and remove "these spineless ones"... Republicans the party for national security and the party that will stand up to terrorist; however, forget the idea of them ever standing up to the media or the democrats here on the home front... It is sadly comical to watch.

Good To Come Back With!

Well I took a break, surprise. Honestly I got sick of the junk, never ending junk -- liberals complain I, a conservative, and others like me don't listen or refuse to listen to facts, yea right!

Have you ever noticed that when someone complains about a flaw in another's character, that flaw is magnified ten fold in themselves? Seriously think about it, when I have pointed this out to some they take a minute and say "You know your right", I know I am -- I learned it years ago from a mentor... Because I know this, when I become irritated I look at myself before speaking! Ever wonder where the saying "Physician heal thyself" came from?

Well I am back and will try to post regularly, but let me first say the claim that I and others like me refuse to listen....is bunk! Bunk stated by arrogant, elitist, who want the ability to determine what I say, think, and where I spend my money. Well, dream on sparky! My thoughts, desires for my family, and my belief choices will never be controlled by another human -- OK the wife might control some of my thoughts:-)...

What better time to return to posting then with a link of Brit Hume spelling out the idiocy of Martha -- a true Democrat hero! Watch it here! Some excerpts!

...this guy is long past the day when he had anything but the foggiest awareness of what the heck is going on in the world.

Go Peyton!

I just found this interesting

UT's Fulmer, Cutcliffe head to Super Bowl as Peyton fans

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer was acting like a regular fan when he watched Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts earn a trip to the Super Bowl. Fulmer recruited and coached the star quarterback and is now one of his biggest fans, like many Volunteer faithful who still follow Manning.

Go SEC!

I know I haven't posted much, but I had to post something about the Southeastern Conference showing up and putting the Big 10 in it's place! As usual this year we here how powerful the Big 10--though many sports writers independently claim the SEC the strongest conference, very few will give an individual SEC team their Kudos unless they have no choice (make through conference play and season undefeated). But we see the big powerful Big 10, the best they had to offer, wasn't so powerful!
