DEAN UNDER FIRE
Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are privately bristling over Howard Dean’s management of the Democratic National Committee and have made those sentiments clear after new fundraising numbers showed he has spent nearly all the committee’s cash and has little left to support their efforts to gain seats this cycle, ROLL CALL reports. Congressional leaders were furious last week when they learned the DNC has just $5.5 million in the bank, compared to the Republican National Committee’s $34 million.

Just Another Moore Lie

Not big news, just another Michael Moore lie!

Michael Moore owns Halliburton!
"I don't own a single share of stock!" filmmaker Michael Moore proudly proclaimed. He's right. He doesn't own a single share. He owns tens of thousands of shares – including nearly 2,000 shares of Boeing, nearly 1,000 of Sonoco, more than 4,000 of Best Foods, more than 3,000 of Eli Lilly, more than 8,000 of Bank One and more than 2,000 of Halliburton, the company most vilified by Moore in "Fahrenheit 9/11."
If you want to see Moore's own signed Schedule D declaring his capital gains and losses where his stock ownership is listed, it's emblazoned on the cover of Peter Schweizer's new book, "Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy."

Priest could face trial for saying Jesus existed - Europe - MSNBC.com
VITERBO, Italy - An Italian judge heard arguments Friday on whether a small-town parish priest should stand trial for asserting that Jesus Christ existed. The priest’s atheist accuser, Luigi Cascioli, says the Roman Catholic Church has been deceiving people for 2,000 years with a fable that Christ existed, and that the Rev. Enrico Righi violated two Italian laws by reasserting the claim. Lawyers for Righi and Cascioli, old schoolmates, made their arguments in a brief, closed-door hearing before Judge Gaetano Mautone in Viterbo, north of Rome. They said they expected the judge to decide quickly.

Kerry Speaks - (LOL)

John Kerry, still campaigning in the 2004 Presidential race calls for a filibuster of Judge Alito... Though there is no support even from 'leading Democrats' Kerry continues his attempt to be "Joe Somebody"! I do love him, his comic routines cause me to start my day with a good laugh and we all know laughing is good for the soul.

I say he is still campaigning in the 2004 race because if he really feels he has a chance in 2008 he is truly "out of touch"!

Kerry Gets Cool Response to Call to Filibuster Alito - New York Times
But late Thursday afternoon, Mr. Kerry began calling fellow Democratic senators in a quixotic, last-minute effort for a filibuster to stop the nomination.

Democrats cringed and Republicans jeered at the awkwardness of his gesture, which almost no one in the Senate expects to succeed.

"God bless John Kerry," said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican on the Judiciary Committee. "He just cinched this whole nomination. With Senator Kerry, it is Christmas every day."

FOXNews.com - Politics News - Senate GOP Moves to Quash Filibuster Against Alito
"Continuing to threaten a filibuster, even after it is crystal clear that Democrats don't have the necessary votes to sustain their obstruction, is needless, strange and at odds with many of their fellow Democrats," said Sen. John Cornyn (news, bio, voting record), R-Texas.

Libby/Plame/Wilson

This "CIA Leak" deal is going to get interesting now. I must admit I lost interest during the "over blown" media coverage, but now we have the defense attorney has given notice he will be subpoenaing all the "journalist" and now wants all the prosecutor's files -- good! I want the American people to see how overblown this was and how many people outside the administration new the "Plame/Wilson" story and for how long! Maybe the "thinking" American will see the true motivation for the "witch hunt".

Defense Lawyers Seek Prosecution Data on Reporters in Leak Case - New York Times
WASHINGTON, Jan 26 — Lawyers for Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff asked a federal judge on Thursday to order the prosecutor in the C.I.A. leak case to turn over all documents in his possession related to what journalists knew from any source about the intelligence officer at the heart of the case. The lawyers for the former chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby Jr., said in their motion that the prosecutor, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, had refused to turn over to the defense documents that would shed light on whether any reporter knew about the C.I.A. officer, Valerie Wilson, before her name was first disclosed in a newspaper column on July 14, 2003.

Presidential Press Conference 09:15am (CST)

Just thought I would blog this. He (President Bush) looked and sounded great in the "question and answer" format a couple of days ago... However, this is a press conference and I will admit that he doesn't look as comfortable in this type scenario...

FOXNews.com - Politics News - Bush to Hold Press Conference
The president likely will continue to defend the use of wiretaps against some people inside the United States. His authorization of the National Security Agency program to conduct electronic surveillance against people inside the United States if they communicate with Al Qaeda-linked individuals overseas has come under fire recently from Democrats who say Bush overstepped his legal bounds.
Continuing the "Bush defends......" topic, I thought I would share this. I am not sure I agree with the use of 'defends', and believe the MSM uses it to give the impression the President is on the ropes -- he is NOT, but I am for him EXPLAINING his position.

VOA News - Bush Continues to Defend Domestic Spying Program

She Needs a Clue

Ms Howell must have been been absent these last five years if this "hate" is a surprise. In response to the "hate mail" (see this post) she and the Washington Post got she seem oblivious to the fact this type hate has been directed at Republican politicians, Republican voters, and conservative journalist for sometime now. Maybe Ms. Howell only becomes aware of such hate when the far "left loonies" turn on her and the Washington Post. I would suggest she open her eyes and ears and listen to the comparison to Hitler, the wishes for death expressed for our President, and see the pies and such thrown at conservative speakers... Maybe if a little attention is paid to these details she and the 'Post' would not be so surprised.

You might try making more movies like this. A good and well made movie that was shunned by the "establishment". Hey, Hollywood get a clue!

Plot Summary for End of the Spear (2006)
"End of the Spear" is the story of Mincayani, a Waorani tribesman from the jungles of Ecuador. When five young missionaries, among them Jim Elliot and Nate Saint, are speared to death by the Waorani in 1956, a series of events unfold to change the lives of not only the slain missionaries' families, but also Mincayani and his people.
Just take a look at these two movies on Google -- one has nine (9) reviews one has sixty-three (63)... Want to speculate why the one was basically shunned by the "Hollywood establishment? Hint: Missionaries, God, etc.

You are only movie makers selling a product, after all!

Pakistan names 3 al Qaeda believed killed in strike
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistani intelligence sources on Thursday identified three of four al Qaeda members believed to have been killed by a U.S. airstrike last week, though they have yet to recover the bodies. One of the dead was said to be Abdul Rehman Al-Misri al Maghribi, a son-in-law of al Qaeda second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahri. Another was Midhat Murfi al Sayid Omer, an expert in explosives and poisons who carried a $5 million U.S. reward on his head. The third man named was Abu Obaidah al Misri, al Qaeda's chief of operations in Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province.

Guess He Wasn't There

I blogged earlier earlier it appeared that Ayman al-Zawahri was apparently killed in a early morning strike Friday. We then got mixed reports -- now it appears he did not attend a dinner/meeting he was expected to attend. I do wish we got him.

Al-Qaida leader was invited to dinner - International Terrorism - MSNBC.com
PESHAWAR, Pakistan - Al-Qaida’s No. 2 leader was invited to dinner marking an Islamic holiday at the Pakistani border village struck by a purported CIA airstrike, but he did not show up, intelligence officials said Sunday.
Now we have Pakistanis protesting along with the "gotcha" Americans screaming about all the innocents -- let us look at some more excerpts.
Al-Zawahri sent some aides to the dinner instead and investigators were trying to determine whether they had been in any of the three houses that were destroyed in the missile strike that killed at least 17 people, one of the officials said.
First if al-Zawahri was invited and expected to attend and second if there were Al-Qaeda "aides" or members there -- how innocent were/are these innocents? What if I invited a multiple murder to my house for dinner oh and had no intention of notifying the authorities that he/she would be there? To carry this further while we were eating law enforcement shows up and all heck breaks out, hostages are taken, a standoff ensues, and people die -- would liberal America be crying for me?

I posted last night that the Osama's No. 2 had been targeted was apparently dead -- we were waiting on forensic test to confirm. You can see them here and here. Now we have this report:

Pakistan Condemns Purported CIA Airstrike - Yahoo! News
"Their information was wrong, and our investigations conclude that they acted on a false information," said a senior Pakistani intelligence official with direct knowledge of Pakistan's investigations into the attack.

His account was confirmed by a senior government official who said al-Zawahri "was not there." Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the subject's sensitivity.
But we also have this report...

I guess we are still in wait and see mode.

Let Us not Forget the War on Terror

Major Terror Plot Against US Ignored By US Media
The mainstream U.S. media outlets have failed to report a major terrorist plot against the U.S. - because it would tend to support President Bush's use of NSA domestic surveillance, according to media watchdog groups. News of a planned attack masterminded by three Algerians operating out of Italy was widely reported outside the U.S., but went virtually unreported in the American media. Got Some Catching UP to Do

Unfortunately I have had a serious bout of stomach ailments --
having cat scans, MRI(s). etc., etc., etc.... I have a question for the
readers here. Have you ever gone to see a doctor and told him/her
exactly what is wrong only to be told it could be this or that and told
how this could causes serious problem up to and including death? You
give in to their request to participate in the testing because you will
not get the medicine you know you need (know will cure it) until they
verify and your wife is now terrified (at least she loves you)? Now we
do the testing -- feeling miserable, unable to walk standing straight,
and on no medication -- you waste an entire day unable to go to work
and know that if you were correct you could have been back to work
tomorrow, but NO now you will have to miss yet another day.

After this excruciating day it is discovered, what do you know, that
you were exactly right and the doctor gives you the exact treatment you
requested... I will not go into the added expense of unnecessary test
really because it does not affect me as it would others.

My point -- is there something to be said about the patient knowing
themselves? Should a doctor acknowledge -- “gee, you were correct”
after all it is called practicing medicine? I realize that in many
cases one can complain of "under treatment" but does this example of
"over treatment" represent the fear of lawsuit if the "possible"
complications come to past?
Awe, guess I am just rambling -- guess the pain killers are getting to me -- just wish they would put me to sleep.

Iraq - No Ties to Terrorism - What?

Just some more examples of Iraqi terrorism ties that you want see in the MSM -- if nothing else they are predictable. Here are some excerpts from The Weekly Standard

Saddam's Terror Training Camps
THE FORMER IRAQI REGIME OF Saddam Hussein trained thousands of radical Islamic terrorists from the region at camps in Iraq over the four years immediately preceding the U.S. invasion, according to documents and photographs recovered by the U.S. military in postwar Iraq. The existence and character of these documents has been confirmed to THE WEEKLY STANDARD by eleven U.S. government officials. The secret training took place primarily at three camps--in Samarra, Ramadi, and Salman Pak--and was directed by elite Iraqi military units. Interviews by U.S. government interrogators with Iraqi regime officials and military leaders corroborate the documentary evidence. Many of the fighters were drawn from terrorist groups in northern Africa with close ties to al Qaeda, chief among them Algeria's GSPC and the Sudanese Islamic Army. Some 2,000 terrorists were trained at these Iraqi camps each year from 1999 to 2002, putting the total number at or above 8,000. Intelligence officials believe that some of these terrorists returned to Iraq and are responsible for attacks against Americans and Iraqis. According to three officials with knowledge of the intelligence on Iraqi training camps, White House and National Security Council officials were briefed on these findings in May 2005; senior Defense Department officials subsequently received the same briefing.

Jumping Ship or Acting Cowardly?

Either this guy is "guilty as sin" or once again Republicans are acting like losers instead of winners -- more worried about saving the majority then doing what we elected them for in the first place... As for me, let the legal system handle this and either deal a blow to Delay or the over zealous prosecutor and let our "leaders" (word used loosely) get on to the business of government.

I Really Wish He Would Shut-up

I am a Christian - I am a conservative, and I really wish Pat Robertson will go about delivery God's word and stay the heck out of politics and the national eye. Really, weather you believe what he is saying or not -- it is not for public consumption it is for Church, you know Sunday morning a body of people you choose to be a member of. If Mr. Robertson wants to be a preacher then get a Church and preach if he wants to be an evangelist then evangelize -- but this politics thing puts me out there either to defend him or call him a cook, neither does conservatism or Christianity any favors.

Microsoft Makes Update Available

FYI -- Microsoft has made their fix available and it works. After installing you can remove the temporary fix I mentioned a couple of days ago. For details follow the link.
Security Now! Notes for Episode #20
Users of Ilfak's temporary patch — which is no longer needed in the wake of Microsoft's early released official update — may rest easily. Ilfak reports that he checked-out Microsoft's new replacement GDI32.DLL . . . and it permanently does the same thing as his temporary patch: It simply revokes support for the age-old WMF "SETABORT" command from metafile processing.

Journalist Being Checked and They Don't Like it

Ahh shucks; Maybe they are finding out they aren't as "elite" as they thought or where told they would be at "journalism school"... Easy fix for this "being checked up on" -- get it right, don't take statements out of context, hey I got it report the news not your opinion!
Answering Back to the News Media, Using the Internet - New York Times
Subjects of newspaper articles and news broadcasts now fight back with the same methods reporters use to generate articles and broadcasts - taping interviews, gathering e-mail exchanges, taking notes on phone conversations - and publish them on their own Web sites. This new weapon in the media wars is shifting the center of gravity in the way that news is gathered and presented, and it carries implications for the future of journalism.
[...]
Interview subjects are "annoyed that they're quoted out of context, or they did a half-hour interview and only one sentence got used. Or sometimes they're just flattered that a reporter called them," she said. "If you're one of a growing number of people with a blog, you now have a place where you can set the record straight."
Danny Schechter, executive editor of MediaChannel.org and a former producer at ABC News and CNN, said that while the active participation by so many readers was healthy for democracy and journalism, it had allowed partisanship to mask itself as media criticism and had given rise to a new level of vitriol.
"It's now O.K. to demonize the messenger," he said. "This has led to a very uncivil discourse in which it seems to be O.K. to shout down, discredit, delegitimize and denigrate the people who are reporting stories and to pick at their methodology and ascribe motives to them that are often unfair."

Now let me get this straight -- Mr. Schechter has a problem with "demonizing the messenger", I wonder if he has a problem with the "demonizing" of anyone you choose for any reason (i.e. they disagree with you, they didn't give you an interview, you just don't like, to sway public opinion, etc.) -- you know the elitist behavior of many journalist's.

More on the Vulnerability

Just wanted to provide more on the vulnerability in all versions of windows. Don't forget the fix I reported yesterday.
FT.com / By industry / IT - Windows PCs face ‘huge’ virus threat
“The potential [security threat] is huge,” said Mikko Hyppönen, chief research officer at F-Secure, an antivirus company. “It’s probably bigger than for any other vulnerability we’ve seen. Any version of Windows is vulnerable right now.” The flaw, which allows hackers to infect computers using programs maliciously inserted into seemingly innocuous image files, was first discovered last week. But the potential for damaging attacks increased dramatically at the weekend after a group of computer hackers published the source code they used to exploit it. Unlike most attacks, which require victims to download or execute a suspect file, the new vulnerability makes it possible for users to infect their computers with spyware or a virus simply by viewing a web page, e-mail or instant message that contains a contaminated image. “We haven’t seen anything that bad yet, but multiple individuals and groups are exploiting this vulnerability,” Mr Hyppönen said. He said that every Windows system shipped since 1990 contained the flaw. Microsoft said in a security bulletin on its website that it was aware that the vulnerability was being actively exploited. However an official patch to correct the flaw was not expected to be released until January 10.
